ISSUES: Coyote UGLY?

Protesters gathered on Ocean Avenue in Seal Beach to express their displeasure with the City's decision to capture and euthanize coyotes that have been preying on the pets of residents.

Members of "Empty Cages LA" gathered and demonstrated with signs at the intersection of Ocean and Main on Sunday around midday.   Overall, it was peaceful and lasted approximately three hours, according to a source at the Police Facility.

Residents looking on remarked at how "this was an outside group," and that "no residents of the City were protesting."

This brings up some interesting questions: If a City chooses to handle an issue in a certain way that the majority of the City agrees with should it matter what outside influences think or say?  Is it worth the energy and effort to try to "change" policy as an outside influence in an area that is NOT your own?

It does sound like the coyotes have been a real problem in the area and many have lost their pets.  There have been discussions and meetings on how to handle this for the citizens of Seal Beach and the method of capture and euthanasia is currently being utilized.

The ECLA, clearly, have an issue with the decision to euthanize the captured coyotes, and are acting on their RIGHT to Stand Up and Fight whether the residents of SEAL BEACH agree or NOT.

Darryl Mapp did not belt out any Bob Marley but he did sing a number of Beatles tunes, including "Hey Jude," while playing the keys approximately 60 feet from where the protesters were earlier in

the day.  Another "issue" surfaced.  This time it was between Mr. Mapp and his band and the gentleman who "hammers nails into his tongue."  Now, I'm not sure if THAT is true, but I did see a man, with a hammer, and a chain and he was looking to entertain folks near the Seal Beach Pier.

He just happened to NOT be entertaining anyone while the music continued to play, and had a little bit of an ISSUE with THAT.

ONE thing is certainly TRUE:

ISSUES: We ALL have them.  Some of us ADMIT to them and some of us Fight for them or against them, but we ALL have them.
